We’ll all agree that the 1988 Slam Dunk contests were one of the most iconic contests in NBA history.

featured a close competition between Dominique Wilkins and Michael Jordan, the GOAT claimed victory with a gravity-defying dunk from the free-throw line.

32 years later an Artist named Keegan Hall decided to make a pencil sketch of the legendary Michael Jordan ‘taking flight’ picture, that will mesmerize the internet!

Keegan Hall is a very talented artist but in art needs more than talent to succeed, so In 2005, Hall had given up on his dream of becoming an artist and started a different career. but in 2015 devastating event took place, his mother Lisa, passed away, and the only thing that help him healing is going back to drawing after not drawing for over a decade.

“Losing my mom rocked me to my core, and it’s what got me back into drawing to self-medicate through the grieving process.”

the drawing details are:

  • What: Michael Jordan’s iconic 1988 ‘Free Throw Line’ dunk during the NBA All-Star Slam Dunk Competition at Chicago Stadium.

  • Size: 22″ x 30”.

  • Medium: pencil on paper.

  • Time: 250 hours.

After the drawing was shared through social media, Hall’s website crashed. it became a much greater hit than he could have ever imagen.

Because some people on social media claimed the drawing was a fake, Hall posted a time-lapse to showcase the 250 hours it took to complete.

This piece was by far the most ambitious project I’ve ever taken on, and ultimately took over 250 hours to complete.”

Interestingly, Hall is creating this artwork out of a photograph portraying the same. In the video, he is seen drawing the picture from scratch. The camera also zooms in to show the nitty-gritty with each and every detail drawn with such perfection.

The end result is nothing short of perfect. If seen from a distance, no one can call it a sketch because it seems as real as the actual photograph which was clicked some time back.

Hall appropriately calls the artwork, “Taking Flight.”

Hall’s now creates pencil portraits full-time blended with his love for sports and sparked the idea for realistic drawings.
